Planning Committees
Be a part of an inspiring and dynamic community of women working together to organize these special events! Even if you don't have event planning experience, this is an excellent opportunity to learn to organize and plan unique events and work as a team. Committees include:

We need volunteers to attend and help out during all of the events listed above, as well as with the set-up for the Fall Luncheon on October 12th.

1) Interns:

Girls Inc provides incredible placements for students exploring public administration, social work, marketing, and/or women’s studies.

Interns are provided with intimate and supportive supervision to advance learning objectives and career development.

Two interns per semester are accepted. Interns are currently being requested for the fall 2007 semester. We’re also looking for social work and counseling interns for our GO Onward Program.

2) Talent Troupe:

Provide 3 hours on monthly service providing instruction on talents ranging from music, to arts, to health and wellness.

Time commitment:

Average of 3 hours per month


3) Professional Services and Office Support:

Desktop publishing
Professional writing
Web development
IT Support
Clerical support
Grant writing and fundraising support
Legal counsel
Accounting services
Event support
Database Support

Time commitment:

Average 2 hours per week or more for minimum 3 months.

Requirements:

Experience in specified professional services; reliable; detail-oriented; able to follow through on projects


4) Mentors and volunteer facilitators:

Provide 3-4 hours of weekly service facilitating girls groups to help participants become strong, smart, and bold. Training and curricula are provided.

Time commitment:

Average of 3 to 4 hours per week of on-site facilitation; more time required for preparation for 9 months

Requirements:

Some experience working with girls in groups; reliable; flexible and creative facilitation style



5) Girls Inc. Representative

Act as a Community Liason for Special Events such as fairs, festivals, schools, and fundraisers. Volunteers will represent Girls Inc. at registration tables, vendor booths, as door greeters/ushers. Volunteers will assist with organizing supplies for events, help with set up and break down.

Time commitment:

Average of 3 hours per month

Requirements:

Good public speaking skills; knowledge of the organization (training provided); reliable;
