Office Staff:
The Girls Inc. NW Oregon office is the central nervous system of the organization and is the place where our regular weekly staff meetings, event planning meetings, Girls' Council activities and other gatherings happen. Our beautiful space is located at 1233 SE Stark in Portland, 97214. Our staff is made up of dedicated volunteers and rockin' interns who are not listed on this page.

 

 
 

 

Annette Klinefelter - MEd - Executive Director

As a devoted advocate and supporter for all girls living in Multnomah County, Annette Klinefelter works directly with youth and has designed Girls Inc. of NW Oregon to be youth driven and youth motivated.
Annette received her undergraduate degree in Political Science and masters in Educational Leadership from Lewis and Clark College. She uses these skills to encourage young women and girls to work with legislators and policy makers to promote social change.
Annette is actively involved in local and national organizations focused on social justice, including WAND (Women in Action for New Directions), the National Organization for Women, and the Third Wave Feminist Majority Foundation. She enjoys camping, hiking, reading, movies, yoga, cooking and her relationships with family and friends.

 

Catherine Malinis - Director of Training and Community Education

Catherine Malinis joins Girls Inc of NW Oregon as the Director of Training and Community Education. Catherine completed her Masters degree in Organizational Communication with an emphasis on developing mixed culture organizations at Marylhurst University in June 2005.

Catherine has been an ardent supporter of programs for girls and women and has worked as an activist, facilitator, diversity trainer, and program manager with elders in public housing, African and Bosnian refugee youth and with an organizing project for women in rural communities called Womankind.

She is thrilled to continue her work with Girls Inc to foster an environment that protects, supports and inspires girls and young women. Her passion lies in providing all girls and women with opportunities to bring their much needed intelligence, creativity and heart to a fragmented world challenged by bigotry and cynicism.

In addition to working with girls and women, Catherine is a mother of two young adults that she home schooled for five years. She developed a network of N.W. women leaders engaged in human liberation work. She has led parents support groups and classes in active listening skills. She enjoys spending time with her partner, Jorge, and her dog Tater, salsa dancing, reading, traveling, and cooking and entertaining at home.


Stacey Royce - Associates Mentorship Program Manager

Stacey Royce is currently the Associates Mentorship Program Manager at Girls Inc. of NW Oregon. She began as a volunteer at Girls Inc. in 2005 and in due time was generously given the opportunity to plan the United Girls Summit 2006, an incredibly challenging and fulfilling experience. She continued on as the Volunteer Coordinator for a year before starting the new mentoring program. Stacey is grateful to Girls Inc. for providing the opportunities to grow with the organization and stretch beyond her perceived limitations.


Carol Roberts- GO Onward program manager

Carol Roberts joins our team as the new Program Manager of the GO Onward program. She brings 13 years of mental health and social work with families from diverse cultures in Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas counties. Carol enjoys working with girls of all ages, with expertise in family dynamics, attachment, developmental psychology and domestic violence and also has a background in clinical research, as well as in theatre.

 

Erica Stokes, Executive Assistant

Erica is a trained Primary Montessori Guide, a supporter of local coffee, music, and environmental efforts. She has worked in both the corporate and non-profit sector, and while Montessori is a deep passion, she is equally interested in pursuing a career in the non-profit world. She lives with her boyfriend and chiropractor, Mario, and her two energetic dogs, Bella and Watson.

 

Bonni Goldberg, Development Director

Bonni Goldberg joins Girls Inc. of NW Oregon as . Bonni has a Masters degree in writing from Johns Hopkins University. She has done development work as the Director and Program Manager for many non-profit organizations and as a consultant. Bonni is the author of several books for adults and girls. She has also worked as a writer-in-the-schools for over twenty years on both coasts. Bonni loves living in Portland with her husband and daughter and having an extended network of wonderful women friends.

 

Allison Rogers, GO Onward Program Facilitator Support Specialist

Allison Rogers is currently the Facilitator Support Specialist in the GO Onward program. She holds a BA from Indiana University in Sociology and Women's Studies and recently completed her graduate degree in Social Work at Portland State University. Allison brings over 10 years experience as a facilitator and proponent of experiential education opportunities for youth. She enjoys reading and traveling and is excited for the opportunity to combine her passions for gender equity work and facilitation in her new position at Girls Inc.

Kamesha Robinson joins our team as the new After School Program Manager. Kamesha completed her Bachelor's degree from Portland State University. She brings 10 years experience working with children and families in Multnomah County. Kamesha is passionate about working with the community and schools.

Jeannette Shupp brings more than seven years of solid marketing and communications experience to Girls, Inc. Passionate about empowering girls to live strong, smart, and bold lives, she hopes to positively impact Girls Inc. through outstanding communications, public relations, and more. Ms. Shupp received her bachelor's degree in Communications from West Chester University and enjoys spending time hiking, biking, and relaxing with her husband and daughter in beautiful Portland, Oregon.

Starting as an intern at Girls Inc, Kristin is now the Volunteer Coordinator, facilitator of after school groups, and training assistant. Kristin’s enthusiasm is contagious. She believes that receiving support is empowering and life changing. She is inspired and motivated to meet the needs of adolescent girls. After completing her B.A. in Psychology and Gender Studies from Lewis and Clark College, Kristin is excited about having time for other interests, including biking to work, working towards social change, conflict resolution, environmental education, swimming, vegetarian cooking, and being outdoors.

Sally Earll

Sally Earll, M.Ed., is the Associate Director of the Center for Continuing and Professional Studies at the Lewis & Clark College Graduate School of Education and Counseling. She has been affiliated with Girls Inc. since its inception in 1999 as the Girls Initiative Network.



Myrna E. Schulte

Myrna is Safety Director for PCC Structurals, Inc., a Division of Precision Castparts Corp., where she has worked for the last 20 years. She has also held other positions with the company, including Domestic and International Sales Account Management, Manufacturing Supervision and Area Management, and Engineering Program Management. In her current position, she is establishing a new direction and increased focus for the Structurals Division facilities as well as for the other divisions in the Corp family. Myrna is a graduate of Lewis and Clark College with a BA in history.



Valerie Hunter

Valerie serves as the Leadership Consultant to Region 5 (Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, California, and Nevada) for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), building leadership and not-for-profit organizational capacity. Previously, she was Deputy Director for the National Program Office of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Developing Leadership in Reducing Substance Abuse. There, she designed and facilitated leadership meetings and strategic experiences while coaching diverse and emerging leaders across the country in the field of public health.

With over 29 years of experience in the mental health and alcohol/drug fields, Valerie has worked in the capacities of therapist, program director, administrator, consultant, professional coach, and trainer. In the recent past, Valerie was the Director of Adult Services and later, the Director of Training and Workforce Development at De Paul Treatment Centers in Portland, Oregon. For several years, she was Deputy Mental Health Director in Humboldt County, California. She has long maintained an independent practice of facilitation, coaching, and training and has worked with diverse organizations and populations.

In her various positions, she brings and translates best practices into practical applications and specializes in tailoring tools and processes for individuals, teams, and organizations to improve their focus, enhance their capacity to learn, and stimulate their creativity.

Valerie holds a B.S. degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Southern California and is a registered occupational therapist. Valerie is also a licensed psychotherapist who received her M.A. degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from Azusa Pacific University and a graduate of the Coaches Training Institute.

Lynn Kirwan

Lynn is a native Portlander who has been a Washington County Community Planner for six years. She also founded and owned a specialty food company for 17 years. Lynn has served on several city and business committees concerning business owners. She has also been involved in the community in various ways, including serving on the Board of Directors for the Learning Disabilities Associations of both Oregon and Washington; Chair of the Pearl District Community Garden Committee; Security Committee of the Gregory and the Tanner Place Condo Buildings; Secretary of the Pearl District Neighborhood Association (PDNA) Communications Committee; Treasurer of the PDNA Board of Directors; and Executive Committee of the PDNA.



Jennifer Modarelli-DeVoe

Jennifer Modarelli-DeVoe is the owner and principal of White Horse, the largest privately held, woman-owned and WBENC certified interactive marketing agency in the Pacific Northwest. Modarelli-DeVoe joined White Horse in 1998 as its general manager and acquired the company as a principal owner in 2000. A certified public accountant with 12 years of experience in corporate management, Modarelli-DeVoe has held leadership positions with Coopers and Lybrand in Los Angeles (now PricewaterhouseCoopers LLC); Levi Strauss in San Francisco; Rapak, a Chicago based manufacturer of packaging systems; and a financial communications agency in Portland, Oregon.



Molly Moore


Molly Moore is currently the Director of Business Development for Thetus Corporation, a fast-growing software company located in downtown Portland. Prior to Thetus, she was the Vice-President of the Software Association of Oregon, a non-profit focused on advocating for and supporting economic development for the state’s software industry. Molly also worked for Governor Ted Kulongoski in the Office of Education & Workforce Development where she led the state’s activities for healthcare workforce issues. As the New Economy Manager for the Portland Business Alliance, Molly focused on the advancement of targeted growth industries. Prior to joining the Portland Business Alliance, Molly worked for Hewlett-Packard. She has over eleven years experience in business development, sales, and marketing.



Cindy Tortorici


Cindy is the founder CEO/President of The Link for Women, a Northwest-based, affiliate organization that connects and mentors women from many walks of life by providing events and programs that help them reach their full potential. Throughout her 25-year career as a business strategist, merchandising expert, and manager for some of America’s most respected corporations, Cindy has shared with others her passion for excellence, teambuilding, and results. Cindy is a recognized leader in the retail industry, most notably with Saks Fifth Avenue and Nike, Inc. During her 11 years at Nike, Cindy held a variety of sales and marketing positions, working with the country's top retailers and some of the most talented male and female athletes of our time. Also in 1992, Cindy became a trustee of Oregon Ballet Theatre and has chaired four major fundraising galas for OBT.



Vanessa M. Fawbush

Vanessa is currently the Public Relations Officer for Lewis & Clark College in Portland. She has also served as the college’s Director of Alumni and External Relations, where she established and monitored a $40,000 budget for alumni programs and developed multi-media fundraising communications strategies in cooperation with the Dean.

Vanessa is a member of Public Relations Society of America, Willamette Valley Development Officers, and serves on hiring Committees for Lewis & Clark College. She has also volunteered for the Portland Global Festival’s Center for Intercultural Organizing; the “Trick or Vote” nationwide get-out-the-vote campaign; and Oregon Public Broadcasting Pledge drives. She holds an M.A. in English from Oregon State University and a BA in English/Mass Communications from Minnesota State University at Moorhead. She is also proficient in Spanish.
