Got Questions?

Am I old enough to apply?
We accept applications from girls ages 10-18.

Do I get to choose which company I want to work with?
We do our best to match girls with companies that have similar interests but the emphasis is on having the experience of mentorship in the workplace so girls do not choose which company they are matched with.

What are some things that the teams do together?
At every meeting there are fun energizers or team-building activities to help everyone get to know each other and laugh together. Teams also work on the company Challenge Project (link) over a 7-8 month period. After the Challenge project, mentors will help girls create a Personal Development Plan to identify personal, academic, and career goals and the path to get there.

What businesses are involved?
The Standard Insurance Company, Northwest Staffing Resources, Hanna Andersson, Western Culinary Institute, Portland Business Alliance, PGE, CMH2 Hill, Recess Fitness, REI, and White Horse are current and prospective participating companies.

What is the time commitment?
Teams meet twice a month after school, generally from 3:30-5:00pm, for 11 months.

What happens if I sign up but don’t like the company I am matched with?
During the application process, you will interview with the program manager. She takes into account your interests, your schedule, your location, and your transportation needs and will make the best match that she sees fit. Occasionally matches may not work out but we will do our best to see that your interests are met.

Who are the other girls that I will be matched with?
They are all Girls Inc. members and they vary in age from 10-18.
